| Marketing Strategy 5 Min Read

Weā€™ve launched a lot of websites this year for many top-producing agents and teams. If you have been following us on Instagram, you have seen our Artifakt Advent, where our team has been recounting their favorite projects of the year. As a trusted real estate marketing agency, we know the value of beautiful graphics and functional design. But what can you expect for 2019 when it comes to real estate website design?

Hereā€™s a look at some of the biggest trends in real estate website design:

1. Mobile-First Design

Thereā€™s been a huge shift in the browsing habits of internet users. The majority of online activity is now coming from mobile devices. This means that designers must also start to shift their thinking and incorporate mobile-first design. This year, our client The Goodhart Group actually won an award from REAL Trends for their mobile site, just showing how important mobile-friendly and mobile-first sites are becoming.

2. Scrolling Effects

In the past, interactive websites were clunky, didnā€™t perform well, and could be glitchy; but with new technology and better browsers, these interactive websites can take your breath away. For real estate agents, this means creating a website that shows movement. Different scrolling effects, unique menus, and even hidden menus are just a few ways to encourage website visitors to take full advantage of the dynamic scrolling effects on a website. Just take a look at this website we made for Toronto luxury agent, Ana Santos.

3. Minimalist Design

One of the cornerstones of modern design is the minimalist approach. Perfecting the use of white space and learning how to tell a story with clean, crisp lines and uncluttered backgrounds gives an impression of freshness, youth, and excitement. Our project for the Adrian + Andrea team is a great example of mixing clean minimalism with fun for a bold impact.

4. Maximum Luxury

While one side of the spectrum seems to love minimalism, we canā€™t say that itā€™s for everyone. Certain projects require a more maximalist approach. Take, for example, The Wedgeworth Team website we launched this year. With its location, target audience, and the types of properties the team sells, it was important to illustrate the grand scale of things. We did this with stunning images, rich colors on a white background, and unique touches that were anything but scaled back.

Going forward into 2019, expect to see more luxury websites like this, with tasteful flair paired with crisp lines and aspirational content.

5. Animations

Gone are the days where every part of a website was animated ā€œjust because.ā€ Today, we use animations sparingly and tastefully. It could mean having a button that transforms when you hover over it or having an animated logo like we made for Lilette Wiens. Regardless, when itā€™s done well, animations are a stellar way to make a website stand out from the competition.

6. A Bold and Unexpected Color Palette

Although black, grey, and white are all staples of a luxurious, high-end real estate website, itā€™s becoming more common for teams to choose branding that is bold, unexpected, and bright. Pink, yellow, Kelly green, and turquoise are just a few of the pops of color we have included in branding and websites this year, and weā€™re excited for a few upcoming, top-secret launches that incorporate even more bold color palettes. These surprising color combinations help you stand out in the minds of clients.

7. Avant-Garde Ideas and Branding

Real estate is an industry that is always changing, advancing, and innovating. So, your real estate website should also push the envelope. Consider thinking outside the box with your branding and website design. Unexpected shapes, asymmetrical design, avant-garde styling are all a few ways to capture the attention of online visitors and cement your brand as one that is pushing boundaries and at the forefront of the industry. This website we made for One Group Real Estate shows just that, with an unexpected menu navigation, sleek branding, and asymmetrical design.

8. Friendly and Conversational Content

The design and graphics on a website are what draws you to the site, but the content is what makes you stay. Writing stellar website content is now just as important as creating an eye-catching site to begin with. In many cases, friendly, conversational content works best as it is inviting and easy for readers to digest online. However, itā€™s important to consider the target audience and overall brand direction when coming up with a website content strategy. Our content for Nested Real Estate is a great example of combining a friendly and aspirational tone with quality information.

Website trends come and, but when it comes to finding design inspiration, you must consider your brand and target audience. No one is better at building beautiful and functional websites for top agents and teams than Artifakt Digital.
